ANDREA CASCARDI

Senior Agent

Transatlantic Agency

Andrea Cascardi, Senior Editor, Transatlantic AgencyAndrea Cascardi has held senior editorial positions at Random House, Disney / Hyperion, and Egmont USA. As an editor, she acquired and edited Caldecott Honor and Coretta Scott King winner Tar Beach by Faith Ringgold, and Pura Belpre winner Before We Were Free by Julia Alvarez, among many other award-winning books. As an agent, she has represented many bestselling and award-winning titles, including Clare Vanderpool’s Newbery winner Moon Over Manifest and Printz Honor winner Navigating Early, e.E. Charlton-Truillo’s Stonewall winner Fat Angie, New York Times Bestseller Nubs: A Mutt, A Marine, and a Miracle, among others.

Some of Andrea’s favorite Middle Grade and Young Adult fiction genres and subgenres include fantasy, magical realism, historical, historical fantasy, contemporary romance with a twist, and diversity. In recent years, she has tweeted, “I'm looking for bold writers/stories/characters… a Middle Grade that makes me cry. No high fantasy, horror, or sci fi. I’m [seeking] strong hooks, compelling plot, amazing characters. Even better if humor laced throughout drama, or drama laced throughout humor… I’m always looking for the story I never knew I wanted—ie, a different perspective. Pacey and Voice-y.”

Andrea is returning as PCCWW's faculty agent. One of her memorable quotes from our 2007 event: “At workshops and conferences, I’ve been moved to tears or felt shivers of excitement and am always reminded of why I am in this business—because of the writers.”

Welcome back, Andrea!
