Located on the main street, half a block from the ocean, the rooms have HBO, fireplaces, and oak furniture; some suites have spa tubs, and the hotel has a homey feel that puts it one notch above a motel room. WATKINSVILLE, GEORGIA: Ashford Manor

Located just south of Athens, home of the University of Georgia, this beautiful and bucolic 1893 Victorian bed-and-breakfast sits on five acres of well-manicured grounds and gardens.
