AUDITORS (ACTIVE OBSERVERS)

No manuscript critique. As an Auditor, you’ll enjoy many of our workshop’s interactive features, but pre-workshop homework is reduced or optional.

DESCRIPTION

If you’re an Auditor, you’re a writer for whom at least one of the following is true:

  • You registered too late to enroll in Groups 1, 2, or 3.

  • You don’t have a manuscript ready for critique, or submitted a manuscript that doesn’t match our requirements for genre and/or craft.

  • You don’t seek public and/or peer feedback on a manuscript (you have an editor, book doctor, smart critique group), but want to make contact with our faculty. This may be true of new writers as well as of successful published authors.

  • You’re a professional storyteller, beginning-but-savvy novelist, published novelist, educator, librarian, or other incorrigible bookworm.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Before the workshop, you’ll be invited to read manuscripts in our online peer anthology (optional, but helpful!), and participate in other pre-workshop activities. During the workshop, you’re welcome to share impressions and ask in-depth questions that non-beginners might also wish to explore.

PERKS

  • Auditors may enroll anytime, as long as space permits. No registration or manuscript-mailing deadlines!

  • Although Auditors don’t receive a manuscript critique, we provide opportunities for you to meet our presenters in person—for example, when possible, you’ll be offered a place-card setting at one meal near your faculty of choice.

STUDENTS & PARENTS

Our intergenerational workshop welcomes students (teens through college) who may benefit from an in-depth, collegial approach to exploring and crafting fiction. Student Discount: deduct $30 from Group 4 registration fee, which (for students only) includes optional critique. Details: see our teen pages.

Parents of interested 14 through 19 year-olds may take our PATS (Parents and Teens) $30 discount for themselves. Student and/or Early Bird discounts may be combined with our friendly PATS.

“Don’t manipulate the plot to showcase the message.”
