GROUP 2

WRITTEN CRITIQUES

With editor, agent, faculty author, or adjunct faculty author, on 10 to 15 manuscript pages, plus up to 450-word synopsis.

DESCRIPTION

As a Group 2 enrollee, you’ll receive written feedback by our editor, agent, faculty author, or adjunct faculty author—usually the writer’s choice. These enrollees are writers for whom at least one of the following is true:

  • You have registered too late to enroll in Group 1.

  • You don’t seek peer and/or public feedback on your manuscript.

  • The manuscript doesn’t match our Group 1 (masterclass) requirements in terms of genre and/or craft. See Group 1: Description.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Before the workshop, enrollees critique at least four Group 1 manuscripts (each 10 to 15 manuscript pages, plus up to 450-word synopsis) to prepare for masterclass clinics. These manuscripts are available for Groups 2-4 in our e-anthology.

PERKS

As a Group 2 enrollee, you’ll receive a longer written critique (up to one typed page) than do writers in Group 1.

Recipients of written critiques needn’t take notes and listen simultaneously (as with face-to-face critiques), but they can re-read the written critique in private at their leisure.

Although your critique isn’t face-to-face, we provide opportunities for you to meet the faculty in person—for example, at one meal, you’ll be guaranteed a place-card setting very near your faculty of choice.

Remember: A professional critique may help turn your Group 2 manuscript into a Group 1 manuscript next year... and suggest revisions to make it more engaging now.
