and reading peer manuscripts in advance.” Heather Tomlinson,

ALUMNI (Children’s Fiction)
The Class of 2K7
http://classof2k7.com
Heather Tomlinson and Joni Sensel, alumni of the Pacific Coast Children’s Writers Workshop (PCCWW), are among 38 writers who banded together to launch The Class of 2k7—a collaborative for authors with debut middle-grade and young-adult novels published in 2007. Their nationwide authors represent an extensive range of genres and publishers. This Class has spawned others in subsequent years.
- Heather Tomlinson landed her debut contract for The Swan Maiden (Henry Holt; a Booklist starred review) as a direct result of the 2005 PCCWW. www.heathertomlinson.com
- Joni Sensel had already sold her first novel, Reality Leak (Henry Holt), when she attended PCCWW in 2006, but she met agent Jennifer Rofe at the workshop and signed with her shortly
thereafter—resulting in the sales of three more novels (Holt, Bloomsbury 2007-2010), including The Farwalker’s Quest. See writing tips on her website: www.jonisensel.com
